February Expense Report - 2 expensive months in a row

January and February were both expensive... but they were worth it because we had our daughter and her family come and visit. And, it didn't really feel that expensive because we bought and paid for their flights several months ago.

And, of course last month we also took a two week "vacation" to Ecuador.

We spent a total of $6,015 CAD ($4,390 USD) in the month of February.

We love our balcony here at the house!

Here's how it all broke down...

Fuel: We put a little bit of gas in the motorhome and the ATV. Total of $88 CAD.

Groceries: A total of $341. Not bad, but we made up for it with meals out!

Meals out: $822 CAD! That's actually not a record, however the two records in this category were when we were on the cruise ship, and when we did our Peaks of the Balkans hike. And, the numbers are a little skewed because we paid for our friends Mike and Louise's meals out because we were staying with them.

Alcohol: $118 CAD. Not bad.

Miscellaneous: Very high, at $1,485 CAD. But that's because I lumped Lindsey and families return flights into this so that it doesn't affect what we actually spend on our own travel. Of course the rest is the typical taxis, haircuts, internet, etc.

Entertainment: Total of $818 CAD. We paid for all six of us to go paragliding, so that was the majority of it at $759 CAD.

Overnight: $765 CAD for the month. $552 for our rent here at the house, $193 for Mexico City hotel rooms for six, and $213 for six hotel nights in Ecuador.

Motorhome: $53 CAD for the monthly portion of our annual registration and insurance.

Travel: $1,332 CAD in total for the two of us. That's the bus from here to Mexico City airport, then six different airplanes, plus ground transportation in Ecuador, and the bus back here.

So, a grand total of $6,015 CAD ($4,390 USD).

Two expensive months in a row, but March is scheduled to be much cheaper! I've learned that my paragliding course is put off until early May (more about that tomorrow), so we won't have that expense this month. It looks like we'll just be hanging around here at the house for the month of March, although we are going to take off in Igor again, and that may happen later this month. Definitely in April.

I have a couple of projects to complete on Igor, and a few more things to do around the house. So we'll have no problem keeping busy.

Budget for the month of March is $2,200 CAD ($1,605 USD).
