Which fortunately at this time of year doesn't really matter because there's not much in the way of rain. But still, I figured I had better have a look.
There can only be three things that could go wrong... the switch assembly, the wiper control module, or the wiper motor itself. Unfortunately it's not easy to diagnose which one has gone bad.
The water level continues to drop.
Anyway, I spent a couple of hours taking things apart and diagnosing the three items. I'm leaning towards the motor, however it's a bit confusing because it still works perfectly when using the washer pump. The washer pump operates the motor on a different electrical circuit, but other reports I found online suggest that it could still be the motor.
The motor is about $100, so I want to do some more tests to confirm before I spend that.
In the meantime, it's not going to stop us from taking off on our month long trip to Veracruz. We're not in rainy season yet, so the wipers are unlikely to get used anyhow... plus, I can still just keep hitting the washer switch if I really need to use them. And of course our schedule is flexible enough that we just won't drive if there is any rain in the forecast!
Sunset last night.
This morning, I'm taking Igor in to get the exhaust hanger brackets repaired. We're now thinking that getting out of here tomorrow is going to be a bit rushed, so we're aiming for a Thursday morning departure.

Nice price drop on the Gooloo 3000 Jump Starter Battery Pack.
And in Canada...
