Igor is a happy camper... and our route east

A month or so ago when Lindsey and the kids were here, we had been out in Igor when I heard some rattling from underneath the motorhome.

One of the exhaust hanger brackets had broken, and I ended up doing a quick fix with a wire coat hangar to temporarily hold things in place.

Doing a better inspection back home, it was obvious Igor needed some professional help! So yesterday Chago went with me to a local specialty exhaust and radiator shop.

That's the place!

They instructed me to drive in right away and position Igor over one of those open underground bays so they don't need a hoist. The owner and the mechanic went down and poked around and came back up saying they have to do some welding and replace some supports but can do it right away, and it will be an hour or so. The owner is a friendly, talkative guy and noticed Igor's Nova Scotia license plates so was asking me all kinds of questions. He said he had another customer with an RV a few weeks ago who was driving all the way down to Patagonia.

We left them to get to work and Chago and I went across the road to wait at a taco stand and had some yummy quesadillas.

Yummy chicken and mushroom quesadilla.

Igor, in position to get some work done.

Chago, making sure they're doing a good job!

Two guys worked on him for an hour and fifteen minutes. The final bill was 400 pesos ($31 CAD, $22.50 USD). Not only is Igor a happy camper, but I am too!

So, Igor is ready to go. We'll be hitting the road tomorrow morning.

Here is our approximate route heading east...

The interactive map doesn't appear to be working right, so here's a screenshot...

We're going to head south of the Toluca Volcano, then south of Mexico City, taking the backroads all the way to Puebla. Then further east all the way to the Gulf coast at Veracruz. This is just an approximate route because there is a lot to see along the way so there will be some detours.

It's only 700 kms (425 miles) or so, but it'll probably take us two weeks to get there!

We're excited to get going!
