So we finally talked ourselves into doing tandem paragliding when we were with one of RV Caravan groups back in January of 2019.
And then we went again in January of 2020 with the next group trip that we led. So now that my sister Alison is visiting, of course we had to take her as well. After all, you can't come to Valle de Bravo without going paragliding!
It's so much fun... the closest thing that you can do that feels like flying like a bird!
The launch pad was pretty busy.
Ruth and Alison watching on the right hand side.
Normal cost is 1,800 pesos ($138 CAD, $100 USD) per person. We were lucky to meet head pilot Raul the first time we came, and we've been dealing with him ever since. He is also one of the instructors for the solo flying course.
Ruth, Alison, and me with our brain buckets on!
Alison was first to take off, with pilot Raul.
And she's off!
I was next.
Flying like a bird!
So much fun!
It's amazing how they use the wind currents to take you higher.
Here we are well above the launching point.
Fantastic views above Valle de Bravo.
Here is Ruth's take off video... turn up your volume...
I was the first to land, despite the fact that Alison had been the first to take off. It depends on a lot on the wind currents. Ruth came in next, although she had to wait a few minutes to take off. She had the shortest ride. Then Alison landed last, having had the best ride!
Here comes Ruth for the landing.
And here comes Alison.
Touchdown!
So much fun.
I was talking to Raul about the solo course. It's a one week course and you fly every day. It's by no means cheap, but at 28,000 pesos ($2,150 CAD, $1,550 USD) it's probably one of the cheapest places to learn. Maybe I'll do that after Lindsey and the family leave in February.
After the flying, we walked past the church that is famous for its black Jesus...
It has some fairly "dark" looking paintings.
And then we took her to the Museum of Popular Art that showcases the different artwork specialties that come from the various states of Mexico.
Notice the carved entrance door!
These are carved out of one solid piece of wood.
Amazing!
Clay vase.
Also made from clay.
Gotta get going... heading up to see the monarch butterflies today!
