Yesterday was Paco's 70th birthday and they had a big celebration that took place in the nearby city of Toluca where they live.
Our host and friend Chago was invited as well, and he offered to drive us. It's about an hour and a half away depending on which route you take.
We had no idea what to expect. It was taking place at a small event center in Toluca, with a 3:00pm start time.
This must be the place!
The cake!
Birthday boy Paco with his wife Oti.
The whole event was similar to a wedding reception. It didn't take them long to get everyone seated and food was served around 4:00pm. Soup, then a pasta appetizer, then the main course.
Some kind of pork roll with quite spicey sauce and veggies and potatoes.
Our table.
A wild guess because some people came and went and others showed up late... but maybe around 120 people were there.
Paco and Oti starting off the first dance.
I took a video of Ruth dancing with our friend Chago... turn up your volume!
Ruth had a hard time keeping up with Chago!
They don't do birthday cake candles in Mexico.
They do birthday cake fireworks!
We didn't get home until after 11:00pm. A good time was had by all!
