Rainy days

Well, we are getting what was forecast, on and off rainshowers and lots of cloud. The hurricane and tropical storm are still in the ocean and moving very slowly. Now not expected to hit landfall until Tuesday evening.

But in the meantime, we get the clouds and showers that are ahead of it. Still perfect temperatures though, with highs around 24C (76F) and lows around 15C (60F).

Yesterday morning was very strange though, we had dark threatening clouds all around us, yet the sun was shining for about two hours!

We even had the beginnings of a funnel cloud start and we watched this one for about 10 minutes before it finally dissipated.

Sal and Barb are building an extension here at Hacienda Contreras and the lower level will include a nice "community" room for the campers to gather for a game of cards or to watch TV or have a pot luck dinner. Or, to just sit by the wood stove. Around Christmas time it does get a little chilly here in the evenings, and there can even be frost on the ground in the morning, however daytime will be sunny and warm.

Despite the clouds and rain we are comfortable relaxing. We have lots of books to read, and there are breaks in the clouds where we get a little bit of sun. Last night, we taught Sal and Barb how to play Euchre.

  4. That looks like a pretty RV park even with the clouds! It was 82 here yesterday, just so you know we're not freezing to death at home.

  7. Hope that the brunt of the storm misses you. I am concerned for those along the coast. Nature has to do her thing.

  8. Is there any sturdy buildings to take shelter? A Cat 3 hurricane is something to take seriously, especially if you are in a motor home. Remember, tornadoes are common with the hurricane feeder bands.

Keep us posted. I'll be worrying about you two!

  9. Frost on the ground??????? That's not far enough south or too high in altitude. Frost on the ground is why we're leaving central Florida.

  10. I'm not foolish enough to think that only expensive cameras can take pictures such as yours, but I wonder what camera you are using to capture one great picture after another.

  12. Hope after the storms pass you will have a couple of weeks of the great weather we have had. No rain since you guys left I think one or two days after you left the sun came out and stayed out for the last three weeks, still sunny here today. Got the fiver about ready to winterize. All the tanks are drained, so it will be sitting for awhile, I will have my son help me cover it next month before the snow flies. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna...

  14. Barb and Sal...You two did great even with the daquiris. Mmmmm... nice fresh strawberry daquiris!

WBY...They produced some rain, that was it.

Jim and Sandie...Thank you. I am sure we will be fine, looks like we will just be waterlogged!

Sandra...It is a beautiful RV park with wonderful scenery. A lot of Canada had gorgeous weather this past weekend but winter will be on it's way soon enough. Enjoy the nice weather while it lasts.

Sue and Doug...We love it here. Kevin was looking at the weather map and it looks like the eye of the hurricane will be heading further north rather than east. We should be fine, just lots of rain to look forward too!

Donna...Thank you, we think it's a great place.

Contessa...We think the worst will pass us by. We are worried about the coast too! Looks like they won't escape it.

Karen and Al...Yes, there is a good sturdy building on the property. It is the one in the pictures that they are working on. On the first floor at the back there is a finished bedroom and a bathroom that we can use if the need arises. The mountains will act as a good barrier for us so we should just end up with lots of rain.

Paul and Helen...Where we are is at6300ft so the frost will be due to the altitude. The nights will be cool, perfect for sleeping and the days will be sunny and warm. Our camera believe it or not was bought in 2003 and is a Olympus that is only 3.2 megapixel.

Mark and Lauree...We are not near the Gulf of Mexico, we are closer to the Pacific coast and the hurricane is coming in that way. We really shouldn't have a problem with it, we will just get a ton of rain. We are happy not to be on the coast at the moment.

Sam and Donna...Glad you have been having such great weather, hope it lasts as long as possible for you. We know that after this week is over that the majority of our weather will be just about perfect.

    Chris...Come down and join us!
