Payback

We have to think that all this rain is payback for the three and a half months of perfect weather we had last winter! Well, it may be wet, but at least we're not cold and that's the most important part.

And it's still raining as I write this morning. But, this should be the last day and it's looking like it should be quite nice the next few days so we're looking forward to seeing the sun again. So, we spent the day indoors, although we did get out for a quick couple of laps around the park for a walk. Ruth made a loaf of gluten free bread...it sure does smell good baking in the RV.

Baking bread in the motorhome.

Hurrican Jova spared Puerto Vallarta, however the city of Manzanillo had bad flooding and north of there the beach communities of Maleque and Barra de Navidad were also said to be under water. We will likely be visiting these areas next month, so it will be interesting to see what long term damage has been done.

We want to point you towards some blogging friends... Trent and Teresa have been reading our blog since the early days and now I'm happy to report that they are about to take off on their first winter away from Canada as they are officially retired! Happy travels Trent and Teresa, we'll be following along!

Today, despite the rain (or perhaps because of it) we are going to go into the town of Mazamitla. We need to pick up a few groceries, plus there is a nice waterfall there. We visited this waterfall back in February, but it was during the dry season and there wasn't much water falling! We want to see it again, and with all the rain the last few days it should be really different.

  8. The rain will dry up but had there been mud slides in your area that would have been bad for the locals. Glad Jova settled down a tad.

Life is to be enjoyed no matter the circumstances. Have a good one.

  9. I found another gluten free bread recipe using potato starch and millet flour. They say it is more like "real" bread then rice flour breads. I'm going to try it out tomorrow... I'll let you know :)

  12. Hi there, thanks for looking at my blog.

I, too, bake bread in our 5th wheel. Two loaves at a time. I usually bake in the oven but I have also baked bread in our counter top roasting pan.

  14. We have been in rain for 4 days. Sometimes it is nice to have a day or 2 of rain just to catch up on things but 4 days is getting out of hand!

  15. Well we think the rain has gone. Friday was a much better day. We were getting cabin fever. With the rain everything will stay greener a little longer and the wild flowers will be in abundance.

Elaine, John and Ellen...The bread is very good, even if it is gluten free.

    Bob...We agree!

    Donna W...You bet it is!

Contessa...There were no mudslides that we know about in our area.

Lindsey...Let me know how it turns out. Not sure I can get millet flour down here though.

Chris...It smelled so good. We are looking forward to seeing you again at the end of December.

Palamine...I can only cook one at a because it is for me only (gluten free) and I cut it up and store it in the freezer, no room for more. Love to see people baking in a RV.

FULL-TIMERS...OCT. 17, 2009...Yep, 1 or 2 days is fine but after that it gets old quick.
