Life goes on...

Sunday of course is the weekly market in Valle de Bravo, and we did hop on the ATV and go in to town to do some shopping and have some lunch.

But because it was the weekend of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), the town was actually pretty quiet and many of the regular market vendors weren't there.

So first, we went for a walk around town and down to the waterfront. We haven't been down there since the lake reached it's high water limit.

The town is still decorated for Day of the Dead.

Funny guy.

It sure is nice to see the lake full.

Tourist boats.

The water was low for over five years.
They used to park cars under this shade structure!

I love Valle!

You'll notice a lot of references to the monarch butterflies here. There are two different monarch butterfly wintering grounds located relatively close to Valle de Bravo, and a lot of day tours depart from here. The nearest one is Piedra Herrada which is only about a 45 minute drive, and then there is also El Capulin at Cerro Pelon. It is about an hour and 15 minute drive and a more difficult hike to access. We have been to both of them (as well as others). We are looking forward to returning with my sister next month and our daughter and her family in early February.

The water hyacinth is a problem here as well.

Restaurant entrance decorated with monarchs.

We went and had tacos at the normal place in the market. They are always busy and it's a good sign that you almost always have to wait for a seat.

I went out and did some more work on Igor on Saturday. There was one shelf in a cupboard that was quite rotten from a water leak a long time ago and Ruth wanted me to replace it. I had been putting it off because I knew it was going to be a big job. It's just one small shelf, but the cupboard is built like a puzzle and you have to remove many different pieces just to get that one shelf removed. Anyhow, it's out now and I need to find a local carpenter to cut me a piece of wood.

And how about them Blue Jays! They were "this" close! Oh well... it was sure some entertaining baseball, and of course somebody had to lose. Of course we're disappointed, but life goes on. There's always next year!
