We are off to London to visit the King

Our vacation to Canada is over, and it's time to get back to our normal life. For most people, that sentence means heading back home and going back to work! But for us, it means heading to a different country, and returning to our life of full time travel.

So, this evening we get on a flight from Montreal to Amsterdam. In Amsterdam we have a six hour wait for our 45 minute connecting flight to London City Airport.

Ruth has an aunt who lives in central London, in the Hackney district. We haven't seen her since 2012 which was the last time we were in the UK.

Last time we were in London was 2012.

We've been to London quite a few times. This will probably be our 7th or 8th visit. So we're not staying in the city very long... only four nights. Then we take the bus up to Leeds for a couple of nights, then a night in Hull, then a few days with our friends Glen and Steve who we saw in Greece last January. That was a kind of a rushed visit as we crossed paths going in opposite directions so it will be good to have a little more of a relaxed visit this time around.

Then on the 24th we take a bus from Leeds to Bristol where Ruth's cousin Helen and her husband Tony will pick us up. We've spent a lot of time with Helen and Tony over the years and long time readers will remember when they came to visit us in both Portugal and California. We're going to spend a few days with them at their house, then the four of us are going to drive to Gatwick airport where we will all hop on a plane to Albania on October 2nd!

Albania has become one of our favorite countries and we're looking forward to showing it off to them.

Yesterday morning another one of my long time friends came over for a coffee, and then after lunch we went to visit my mother one last time. Afterwards, we met up for a beer with blog readers Barb and John who live in the area.

Kevin, John, Ruth, and Barb.

John is from Ireland, and they are getting married there next May. They have been together for quite a while, but it's the first marriage for both of them. They invited us to the wedding! We might actually take them up on that since we were thinking of taking Max to Ireland anyway. That would be a fun time!

So, we are all checked in and ready to go. Our friend Kim has generously volunteered to drive us the one and a half hours to Montreal airport, so we'll be heading out at about 2:00pm.

Not exactly sure when you'll hear from us again, but we will update as soon as we can.
