You have to watch out for these things

So we're out for another walk yesterday afternoon and a young guy rides up on a bicycle and asks directions to somewhere. He's got no backpack or things with him, so he's obviously local.

My immediate response was to say "We're not from here, sorry I can't help you".

But there was no way I was taking my phone out.

Don't need a "grab and run" happening, especially when I know I can't catch up to a guy on a bicycle. Anyhow, you have to watch out for these things. Might have been legit, but better safe than sorry.

Ruth tried to say hello to this young horse.
She wasn't successful.

We walked part of the local greenway.

Local housing.

Did another 8 kms (5 miles).

In the evening we had a rousing game of Bugger Your Neighbor (also known as Oh Hell) with Glen, Steve, and their son in law Richard. Lots of laughs and we ended up playing three rounds. I can see a rematch occurring tonight!

Richard shared some of this single malt scotch...  a bit smokey, but very smooth.

Today we are headed into the city of Bradford just to see the sights and take Glen and Steve out for lunch. We were in Bradford in 2012, but that was ten years ago and we honestly don't remember very much.

  1. You were smart not to take your phone out, just in case. We were once stopped outside a store in Florida by a man who wanted to borrow a phone just to make a quick call, said his car wouldn't start. He seemed a little sketchy, so I immediately said "Sorry, I don't have my phone with me." My husband didn't have his phone. Of course I had mine in my purse, but I wasn't taking any chances. This is yet another reason not to have your phone out in public any more than you absolutely have to.

    1. it is terrible to feel this way, especially when it truly is someone just wanting help but sometimes it is difficult to tell the different and it is better to be safe than sorry!
