Day 5 and 6 - Two more days at sea

We have been puttering along at about 35 km/h (22 mph) which doesn't sound very fast, however when you're doing it 24 hours a day, you do tend to put on some distance!

Writing this on Tuesday evening after a total of three days at sea. Wednesday morning we will wake up off the coast of Nanortalik, Greenland where we will spend the day exploring!

We're pretty excited, since going to Greenland was the main purpose of this cruise.

So, we've learned a bit of a routine that we're happy with on days at sea. We go for breakfast around 8:00am. Afterwards we usually grab the laptops and find somewhere comfortable to sit and catch up on this blog and what's going on in the world.

Then there's usually some kind of activity or trivia quiz happening around 10:15am. These types of things usually last about 45 minutes or so. After that, we go to the gym and do a work out for at least another 45 minutes.

The seas were still pretty rough and they closed the outdoor promenade deck.

At noon on Monday we went to the art auction. Why would we go to an art auction? Well the only reason we could come up with was because you got a free glass of bubbly!

I think most people were there for the free glass of bubbly!

They started bidding at $150,000 for this piece.
There were no takers!

We thought this one was much better.
It sold for under $200.

We had our glass of bubbly and left.

We each had a nice big salad for lunch.

The main lobby.

Afternoon we tend to take in another trivia quiz or two. They are very popular on board ship. We don't usually do very well, but it's all just for fun. Then at some point in the afternoon I usually have a nap while Ruth has some more laptop time.

I forgot to take photos of the dinner menu on Monday, but Tuesday is below.

Ussie in the theater waiting for the magician/illusionist guy to perform.

The guy was really entertaining. Not really that many tricks, but he was also funny and presented well.
He also did the famous Harry Houdini straight jacket escape.

Tuesday was a pretty close repeat of Monday.

Except we had a slice of pizza with our salad at lunch.
They even do gluten free crust for Ruth!

We went up to the top deck to have a look around.

Looking off the back end.

Not many people outside.
It was chilly and windy!

Tuesday dinner menu.

Ruth is given the menu a day ahead of time so that she can choose what she wants for the next day and they will make it gluten free. For anyone with any of the more common food allergies, they really bend over backwards to look after you.

We both had the parmesan crusted turkey breast.

This evenings show was a '70's disco themed musical with singing and dancing. I can't figure out how all the cast members remember all of the dance moves they have to do in a forty minute show! Again, really well done.

So... Wednesday morning we will visit Nanortalik, Greenland. We will be up for breakfast at 6:30am, and hopefully they have an efficient system for getting the early birds off the boat and onto land.

High tomorrow in Nanortalik, Greenland? 8C (47F), but at least it's not supposed to rain.

And in Canada...
