Well, it's a good thing that Max is waterproof!

They were calling for heavy rain, and sure enough, that's what we got. A couple of times overnight, it rained so hard I thought we might float away. The locals had said they haven't had enough rain lately, but this might be a little too much all at one time.

Funny story. Last weekend when we were with Bob and Denise in the Canary Islands, I asked them if they knew of a magazine called "Zoomer". It's a popular Canadian magazine produced for the baby boom generation.

Turns out that Denise had only just subscribed. I asked because I had been commissioned to write a short piece for their article about reasons to travel in 2023. Totally funny that she had the most recent copy with her, so we were able to see it in print!

The article is only available online to subscribers, but here is a copy of the print version that you should be able to read if you click on the photo to make it full screen and then click again to zoom in.

I'm actually not 100% happy with it because the editor wanted too much information squeezed into 300 words. It ended up being 480 words, but it's still too short.

We did manage to get outside to wander around the resort in between rain showers yesterday. It's quite a nice spot and they have about a dozen or so small rental cottages as well as the 100 campsites. Many of the campers seem like they are set up for weeks or more. I wouldn't choose it as a destination site because there isn't enough for us to do in the area.

They have a duck pond.

And a people pond!

Actually, there are two swimming pools. But they are both closed for the season.

Two of the rental cottages.

I'd say the campground is about half full.

Again, probably 75% from France, with the rest a mixture of German, Netherlands, and Belgium. Even two from the UK, although the people weren't out otherwise we would have said hello.

Max is quite happy in a row all by himself.

It's definitely a nice enough property and it's been fine for a few days to wait out the weather. Speaking of which, it is supposed to clear up by lunchtime and the next week or so is looking really pleasant. We'll stay here one more night and then move on tomorrow morning.

  1. That's a nice-looking campground. I appreciate the green plantings between sites. And the pools, if you were there at the right time of year. Congratulations on the article - it's good. Wish Ruth had been in the photo, though!

    1. It really is a very nice campground! Lots of trees, plants and flowers and it is kept very clean and by North American standards it is cheap to stay here. The pools would be a welcome sight in the summertime.

Thanks, Emily but honestly I am in a lot more pictures in our blog than Kevin, he did the work should have his picture in the article. :-)

    2. I definitely agree -- just thought the photo should be of both of you, given the blog name!

    3. Hi Emily. I agree with you, however the editor had actually requested 8 different photos, and she chose the two that went in the article.
