Found ourselves a nice Moroccan campground

First order of business on Tuesday was to get some groceries! We had left Max at the secure parking at Agadir Airport while we were gone to Tenerife for four days. Ruth had been so organized that we were able to turn off the fridge while we were gone so as to preserve our propane supply. But that meant the fridge was pretty much empty so we needed to restock.

On our way to the airport last Thursday we had driven by a big Carrefour superstore so we backtracked a bit into the city to go there.

Carrefour is one of the few stores in Morocco that has an alcohol section. I went in and had a look at prices, but we're doing fine without. The cheapest bottle of wine they had was 36 dirhams ($4.75 CAD, $3.50 USD), but we weren't tempted to try it. We've still got a couple of bottles stashed in Max that we brought over from Spain.

Overall, Morocco grocery prices aren't that cheap. Fruits and veggies are definitely reasonable though, and make up for the other stuff. Cheese is cheaper and nicer in Spain, as is yogurt. Man, there is a lot of junk in the yogurt aisle here!

We ended up with 936 dirhams ($122 CAD, $91 USD) worth of groceries so that will keep us going for a while.

With the fridge filled, we set off to find a campground.

We headed about 40 kms (25 miles) south of Agadir to the La Palmeraie Campgound near the coastal village of Tifnit.

It's a big complex with probably 100 campsites and a few rental bungalows. There are two swimming pools as well.

Max found himself a nice site in a row far away from most of the others.

View out the front windshield.

110 dirhams ($14.30 CAD, $10.70 USD) electric included.

The only problem is that it's kind of in the middle of nowhere, and a 6 km (3.7 mile) walk one way to the beach. Not that we will be doing any walking. There is a big storm system coming through this area the next two days. It's been raining on and off already this morning, and it's supposed to really come down this afternoon.

So we'll hang out here for two or three days and wait out the weather.
