I had just about given up

On Saturday, we did the long bus ride from Leeds to Bristol. But first, we had to get from the village of Wyke back to the city of Leeds. So at 9:45am we said goodbye to Steve and Glen, and their daughter Claire and her husband Richard. We had a great week, thanks again for having us! We wonder when and where we will meet up again!

Our bus came on time and it was £2 ($2.95 CAD, $2.20 USD) each for the one hour ride back to the Leeds city bus station.

From there, we had a twenty minute wait for our Megabus ride to Bristol. It departed right on time at 11:15am.

Megabus is known for having some dirt cheap prices when you buy far in advance, but despite having bought the tickets back in mid July, there were no dirt cheap prices to be had. Still not bad though! We paid £15.69 ($23.15 CAD, $17 USD) each for the five and a half hour ride.

Selfie on the bus.

However, while it departed on time, it did not arrive on time!

Everything was fine until we got to Birmingham. We got into the city, and traffic stopped. I mean, literally stopped. We sat for a while before we finally noticed that some people were dressed up to a certain extent... wearing rainbow colored paraphernalia.

Yes, it was the day of the Birmingham pride parade!

So our bus had to get to the Megabus stall right downtown because it had people to drop off and pickup. It took an hour and forty minutes to do what should have taken ten minutes.

Nobody's fault really, but I guess Megabus could have figured out that traffic might have been an issue that day. Anyhow, nothing anybody could do about it.

We sat at this traffic circle, not moving at all for about 45 minutes.

And once we got by the traffic circle, we sat here for another half an hour.

By the time we finally got out of Birmingham, we were almost two hours behind schedule.

Helen and Tony's son Stu and his girlfriend Harriet picked us up in Bristol, and then we still had an hour drive to the village of Keinton Mandeville where Helen and Tony were waiting for us. Helen had made a nice lasagna for dinner, and we were all pretty hungry... thanks Helen!

Stayed up chatting past midnight.

Oh, one interesting thing. I had an email and a text message from Global Blue. This is the company that was processing our tax refund from the two laptops that we bought in Norway. We were supposed to have had the tax refund back by the end of August, so when it didn't show by then I had just about given up on it. Ruth remained confident that we would get it, but I had my doubts. Anyhow, the message said that the refunds had been processed and would show up as credits on our Visa account within 2 to 5 days. So that's good! It all came together as planned.

And in Canada...

    1. Yes, they are safe and had no damage, they were also one of the few that still had power. Thank you for asking about them.
