Lunenburg (day 2)

Despite the weather (yes, it’s still raining) we had a pretty good day yesterday. We walked into Lunenburg, about 10 minutes from the campground, and went to the Bluenose II restoration.

Interesting stuff. The ship was originally built in 1963 and has undergone a few restorations already, but this one is virtually rebuilding the entire hull. It will essentially be a brand new boat when it is launched in 2012, with all of the old furnishings and fixtures reinstalled.

This boating store sells lifejackets for dogs! Nice!

Then we went to the Fisheries Museum, and because they don’t officially open until May 16, they had complimentary admission yesterday. That suited us just fine because we believe that all public museums should be free anyhow. It was an interesting museum, and a lot of it related to the number of shipwrecks that happened around Sable Island off the coast of Nova Scotia in the 1920’s.

Exploring Lunenburg Harbor

But unfortunately, we’re going to cut this trip short. The rainy cloudy overcast weather has our batteries low, and the forecast isn’t looking any better. So we’re going to head back to Kentville and then to couchsurfers Angela and Glenn where we’ll be parked up with electricity for the next three weeks or so. Ruth leaves for Ottawa next week, so Whiskey and I will be on our own for two of those weeks.

On a happier note, it’s our anniversary today…27 years married! And 3 ½ of them living in a 240 sq ft motorhome!

  1. Well then Happy Anniversary!! Murphy's Law says now that you have electricity, the sun will shine.

  2. Lol, if that's what it takes, then so be it!!

  3. 27 years, a wonderful accomplishment. The RV living either brings you closer or you soon figures things out. Happy for you. Sorry about the weather.

  4. Happy Anniversary! Keep your chin up, winter will end eventually.

  5. Happy Anniversary ! I hope the weather improves but its not looking good for the next week we are planning to head to PEI for the long weekend and if the sun is not shining over there it will be cool. Keep our fingers crossed.

  6. Happy Anniversary, enjoy your special day and may there be many more happy years traveling together. Love Tony and Helen
PS Its warm and sunny here, can't say that too often in the UK!

  7. Happy Anniversary. Our 25th will be on the 17th. We are still in the land of sun so I'm really sorry you're having such lousy weather. Wish I could send some of this sun back up to you. Both our girls have their life vests for when we take them out in the boat. They aren't real impressed with them but I think they would be less impressed if they fell in the water without them.

  8. We celebrated our 25th on May 2 so congrates to you on yours. Dale & Mary-Lou

  9. Thank you everyone for the wonderful anniversary wishes sent our way. Sorry that blogger lost all the comments but at least they got our post back.

Rick and Elaine... I hope the weather improves for your long weekend trip to PEI.

Tony...I am glad someone is getting nice weather.

    Dale and Mary-Lou...Congratulations

Jim and Sandie...Happy Anniversary to you as well. Again, we are glad someone is getting sun and we wish you could send some our way as well. I've heard of doggie lifejackets I have just never seen one. Too cute.
