Everybody loves a parade

I stopped in town this morning to pick up some clips that I needed in order to put Sherman's dash back together. After that, I was on the way to Lindsey and Justin's because we were going to the 79th Annual Apple Blossom Parade.

But the main road I needed to take was closed! I had to do about a 10 km (6 mile) detour to get to their place. Oh well.

Then we drove back in to town to park at their friends place and walked to the main road that the parade was on. We got there at about 12:15 and the parade didn't start until 1:00 and it was already busy.

Getting ourselves set up to watch the parade

And we waited. And waited. We were fairly close to the start of the parade route, so we didn't think we'd have to wait long. But it was almost 1:40 before we saw the first participants. Of course this is only the 79th time they've done this. Probably only another 10 or 15 years and they'll have it all figured out well enough that they can start on time!

The streets are getting busy

And, here we go!

So just before this parade princess went by, was an old Mustang convertible with a sign on the side saying "Parade Marshal, Jason Priestley". I'm looking at the guy sitting on the back, and saying to myself yeah right, like Jason Priestley (he of Beverly Hills 90210 fame from 1990-2000) would be the parade marshal of this little hick town parade. Well by the time I realized it really was him, I would have only been able to get a pic of the back of his head. Sorry ladies!

Turns out that he is filming a Canadian TV series here in the town of New Minas. Pretty famous actor to be up here in small town Nova Scotia. I guess someone pulled the right strings to get him in the parade.

Lindsey and Cameron (8 weeks) at his first parade

Now this is a ride on lawn mower!

Send in the clowns

  1. I, too, love a parade. Guess I'm too old - not sure who Jason Priestly is. But I still love a parade.
