And, how many packages showed up? Zero.
So, we had ordered a bed and accessories from Amazon. As is standard when you order the items, the system tells you when to expect them. The mattress specifically said that it wouldn't show up until early November, so we expected that. But the balance of the items said they would arrive Friday October 24th... yesterday.
We know that packages won't show up until late afternoon because the tracking system says they come from Morelia which is about a 4 hour drive from here. So we hopped on the ATV and went for a drive down to the dam to see if the water was overflowing yet.
It's very close... maybe another 6" or so.
Again, there is a lot of invasive water hyacinth in the lake this year.

Back at the house, we had some lunch and then our friend Fernando came over with the carpenters. We are having them custom make us two wardrobe closets (one for each bedroom) and a kitchen cabinet and island. They took a bunch of measurements and we discussed some design stuff, and they will get back to us with a price. They say they can definitely get it done by the first week of December... likely a total of 3-4 weeks from the time we give them the go ahead.
I had a little nap in the afternoon while waiting for the packages to arrive... and they never did.
Then of course it was World Series game 1! How about them Blue Jays, taking a 1-0 lead in the series by creaming the Dodgers 11-4. Game 2 tonight, same time. We are so pleased that our son was at the game. They are season ticket holders, and part of his package enabled them to get the same seats for about $300 each for the World Series. They will be at tonight's game as well as games 6 and 7 if they are necessary.

After the game, I received an email from Amazon...
"Hello Kevin... The packages are on the way, but they are delayed. We're sorry about that. Now expected on October 30th. Track the delivery for the latest updates."
Very strange. How can they be delayed by a full week? That would be frustrating if anybody really wanted those items when they were originally promised, but because the mattress itself isn't arriving until early November, the delay really doesn't make any difference to us. I just find it very odd!
This morning, when I check the tracking it says that the packages were processed in Morelia in the wee hours of Friday morning. Then the next update at 7:00pm last night says "Package delayed in transit". So who knows what happened?!

My relative works for the Jays. This was his first World Series so he was some chuffed to be on the field. (He isn't a player but in support). His wife was in the stands. She said when that Grand Slam hit her head felt like she was standing near speakers at an AC/DC concert. Great fun. People are really on board having something to be happy about for a change eh?
