The water keeps rising!

We woke up to a beautiful day yesterday morning. That's normally the way the weather works here during rainy season. It's nice in the morning, then the clouds and showers move in around noon hour. Temperature is about 23C (73F) during the day, and 13C (56F) overnight.

So, since it was so nice in the morning, we decided we had better tackle the ant problem in our campervan Igor.

The day started off beautifully!

Beautiful start to the day!

The view from our deck.

Every time we have left a vehicle long term in Mexico, we have had insect problems upon our return. So the fact that we had an infestation of ants wasn't unexpected. We just didn't think it would be this bad!

Fortunately, Ruth is very meticulous about making sure that anything the ants might be interested in is sealed in air tight containers. So there was nothing damaged. However, we did have to remove absolutely everything from the cupboards so that we could spray them down with ant killer.

Whatever is in that spray works instantly. It literally stops them dead in their tracks! We'll have to go back in today to do it one more time, and then we'll have to vacuum all the dead ants from the cupboards and wipe them down with cleaner to get rid of the residue from the spray. Guaranteed there are still lots of live ones hidden in inaccessible areas, so it might take a few attempts to get rid of them all.

We had to remove everything from the cupboards and drawers.

And all of this stuff has to be cleaned up and wiped down as well.

A bit of a mess, but we have lots of time.

Around dinner time, we had a massive storm go through. Lots of thunder and lightning, and it poured buckets of rain for at least an hour. The water level in the lake is noticeable higher this morning. I can see the reservoir being totally full by the end of this month, which is amazing when you consider where it was when we left in May. In fact, here's a couple of before and after photos...

These two photos were taken from exactly the same spot. Notice the post in the lower left hand corner!

What else did we do yesterday? Oh, I had to re-activate our Starlink satellite internet. We have a decent Canada/USA/Mexico cell plan from Freedom Mobile in Canada, but with the baseball playoffs ongoing (go Blue Jays!) we're going to be using a lot of data to watch the games. Starlink Mexico has an unlimited residential plan that we were able to activate since we're staying in one place for the time being at 1,250 pesos ($94 CAD, $67 USD) a month. We will likely end up getting a local wired modem connection for WiFi here at the house, especially if we end up renting it out while we're away.

Speaking of baseball, we stayed up late watching the Detroit vs Seattle 15 inning marathon last night. What a game that was! Seattle ended up winning, so they will be starting a best of seven in Toronto on Sunday evening. Seattle has never been to the World Series. Shame they won't be going this time either!

And in Canada...
