Now... how do we get it home?

Late morning, we hopped on the ATV and drove in to the big Chedraui super store in Valle. We needed to pick up a few groceries, but we also wanted to have a look at a few washing machines that they had on sale.

There is a washing machine here at the marina, but we always have to ask our host if we can use it, and it really doesn't work the best. So we wanted one of our own.

And, we had been looking for a decent used one. But we only found one locally, and they wanted too much money for it. 

This is what we bought.

It was on sale, and we paid 6,595 pesos ($500 CAD, $358 USD) tax included. It's a 16 kg size. Here in Mexico, they size the units based on the dry weight of the clothes you are planning to wash. So, this one can take a maximum weight of 16 kgs. Washing machines here tend to be rated between 11 kg to 21kg.

Now, how do we get it home? Well one of the benefits if you buy new from a big box store is that delivery is included. So we made all the arrangements, and I asked the girl when we could expect delivery. She says "oh, they should arrive in maybe an hour or an hour and a half." Wow! (I was kind of proud of ourselves as we did the entire transaction in Spanish without ever looking at Google translate!

And sure enough, the delivery driver did arrive very quickly. He helped me carry it upstairs where it will sit on our balcony, and I gave him a tip.

Then, who shows up later in the afternoon? The delivery driver with all of our Amazon packages that had been promised the day before, and then delayed until the 30th! Too funny.

Blue Jays lost game 2 last night. The Dodgers pitcher was phenomenal. He finished a complete game, so giving credit where credit is due. They are now off to Los Angeles for game 3 on Monday with the series tied at 1-1.

We are off to the Sunday market this morning.
