A little more work than expected

We were talking this morning and realized that we've been here for two weeks already. But we disagree on how much we've got done. Ruth feels like we haven't done very much, but I think we're doing okay considering it's only been two weeks!

And we're in no real rush. We have no time deadlines other than making sure the spare bedroom is finished for when my sister arrives mid December.

And that involves repairing some walls and doing some painting.

I need to buy some concrete filler for this wall.

Our host Chago had offered to get the walls painted But we don't mind doing the work if he supplies the materials. That way, we know it will get done now rather than later. However there are some holes and cracks that need repairing. It's a little more work than expected, but not bad.

The spare bedroom is now empty except for one heavy couch that is missing the cushions.

The entry hallway is also empty now.
That old stove will also be going.

The only other major thing is furniture. Double beds are more popular in Mexico, but we want to get a queen bed for the spare bedroom. They're kind of expensive, but one thing we have learned from our many stays with Airbnb is that the quality of the bed is important! Again, we hope to be doing this for a few years and we want our guests to be comfortable.

Other furniture, we are having built. The carpenter is supposed to show up either tomorrow or Friday to take some measurements and give us a price.

Another beautiful day.
Too bad about the water hyacinth. It's really bad this year.

It looks like the rain is holding off until Saturday, so either tomorrow or Friday things should be dry enough to attempt to move Igor. We'll get him onto more stable ground and closer to our house. I can also then take him to a local mechanic to have the shocks changed. Hopefully we can still get away for three or four weeks during November.

Egrets on the dock.
