Lots of photos yesterday!

We were headed into town for our first ride on the ATV. Sunday is market day in Valle, so we go in to pick up our weekly supply of fruits and veggies.

But since we have the ATV, and that gives us a little more flexibility, Ruth suggested we do the short hike up to La Peña... the high rocks we can see in the distance directly opposite our balcony.

We've been there before. The first time was during our very first visit here in 2010. And once again since, but it was a few years ago. We parked the ATV at the bottom of the hill and walked up.

It's a steep hill!
Yes, we could have driven the ATV up, but we needed some exercise!

The first time we were here 15 years ago, there was just a very rough path leading up here. Now, there is an entrance booth and you have to pay a very reasonable fee of 25 pesos ($1.90 CAD, $1.35 USD) per person. They have installed some steps and railings and trash cans.

Starting to get a nice view of the lake.

Beautiful blue sky!

Interesting rock.

There is also a small cave to explore.

Inside the cave.

If you click the photo to make it full screen, and click again to zoom in, you can see the climbing hooks that have been installed.

Scenery along the way.

Some of the barriers they've installed.

Lots of interesting rocks up here.

Poinsettias grow in the wild in Mexico.

Such a gorgeous day.

Zoomed in on "el centro".

Of course there is a shrine and cross at the top.
This one wasn't here back in 2010.

At the time, there was just this simple cross.

Looking down on the expensive area of La Peña.
Notice how many swimming pools there are.

Looking back towards our house.

Zoomed in a little more.

And more.

Our house (big circle), Igor (small circle).

Ruth and the view.

The first time we were up here, in December 2010.
With our dog Whiskey!

Interesting rocks at the top.

There are a few places that do sailing lessons on the weekend.

The dam off in the distance.

View from the top of La Peña.

Lots of paragliders taking off.

We hiked back down and drove the ATV a little closer to the central area. Really convenient finding parking for the ATV compared to a car.

Shopping for fruits and veggies.

Back at the house, there were quite a few locals fishing from shore.

Another photo of our doorman.

Ruth made a nice Mexican style meal for dinner.

Today is our first official Spanish lesson. We've agreed on three days a week for an hour each session.  Looking forward to that.

And how about them Blue Jays!? The series is now tied at 3-3. The Blue Jays have the momentum, and home field advantage for tonight's deciding game... it's going to be exciting!
