Only a ten minute walk from the subway station and we arrived at our next accommodation. It's in a very residential area, with a lot of apartment buildings.
We are staying in a very nice modern apartment on the 5th floor. It's a shared Airbnb, where the owners are living in the apartment, and we have the second bedroom and use of all of the facilities. The owners are an easy going younger professional couple in their mid thirties, and we seem to get along well. Their English is better than our Spanish, so we converse in English.
Oh, there is another resident here in the apartment as well!
This is Romeu the cat.
Actually, I think he is the owner of the apartment!
Later in the afternoon, Ruth and I went out for walk in the neighborhood. There's a fairly big park nearby, so we headed that way.
Agustin Rodriguez Park.
Lots of bicycle and walking paths.
We walked back along this main street.
We stopped in at a place that was selling whole roast chicken to go, then a Lidl to pick up a Spanish tortilla and some premade salad. We don't need much because we're heading to the six day volunteer language program first thing Sunday morning and they feed us there. The roast chicken was €6.50 ($10.20 CAD, $7.30 USD) and we'll get two meals each out of it. With the tortilla and salad, a total of about €2.50 ($3.90 CAD, $2.80 USD) per meal. Oh, and of course a €1.39 ($2.18 CAD, $1.56 USD) bottle of wine to go with it!
We sat and talked for the evening with our hosts Laura and Carlos. We still needed somewhere to stay for one night when we return from the language program, and I had already booked a place. I had tried to book here, but it showed as not available. It turns out that it's because they have a wedding to go to in Seville. But I asked if they would mind if we were here alone, and long story short, we came to an agreement for cash. Good for them, and good for us! I was able to cancel the other booking with no penalty. So, we'll be back in this apartment next Friday night.
Not sure what's on the agenda for today, but we are likely going to head back to the center after lunch.
