Just a relax day with some rain.

Yesterday was a lazy day. We woke up to rain, for the first time in four months. And cold. And windy. I think we all wished we had stayed in Mexico.

The rain was actually kind of refreshing. Didn't mind that, and we had electric heat inside the motorhome, so we were toasty warm. The rain let up around 10:30am and we figured we had better go out and get some fresh air.

But due to the cold and wind, we had to get a little bit bundled up. The forecast high was only 54F (12C) and windy and overcast.

Lake Casa Blanca.

Ruth, with our cold weather gear on!

A couple of brave souls trying their luck at the fishing pier.

At least we got out and got some exercise. We bumped into Bob and Denise and Roy and Sue also out walking with Scarlett the dog, and we carried on with them for a while.

After lunch, I had a nap!

Around 4:30pm, just in time for happy hour... the sun came out. It was actually pleasant enough to sit outside. We made a charcoal fire and grilled some food and we all had a last dinner together.

Mmmm... looking good!

We had one final game of LCR... it's a great game for a group. During our trip, we played with Mexican pesos, but this time we upped the stakes to American quarters! It was a great game...made even better by the fact that I won!

Just a bird.

And so this morning, we all go our separate ways. Sad to say goodbye, but we will meet up again. Some of us, in the not too distant future!

This morning, Ruth and I are headed up to Freer, Texas on our way to Lake Corpus Christie State Park. But, we have no schedule over the next two and a half weeks or so, so if we find anything to do along the way, or just don't feel like driving any further, we will simply stop and relax. It will be odd not to be on a schedule of any kind!

The cold day yesterday was an anomaly though, and today is forecast high of 65F (18C), so that we can deal with. And getting warmer through the week.

Grandson Cameron.
Happy 8th Birthday buddy... see you in less than three weeks!

  4. Hi Kevin and Ruth... I don’t know what happened to the comments I posted about your trip to Garcia Caverns.. I just wanted to give you two another round of thanks for organizing such a great winter Mexican caravan tour. The Garcia caverns would have been one of my highlight had I stayed on with the caravan. Your blogs were a welcome distraction during my stressful time here in the Philippines. I look forward to following you along on your interesting travels. Wishing you happy trails and good health.

    1. We don't know what happened to the comments on that post either, we didn't see any come through and there weren't any from you in our spam folder either. No worries, you got this one to post.

Thank you so much Lynnette, you and Paul were a pleasure to have on this trip and we are just sorry that you had to leave earlier than expected but we totally understand your need to get back to your ailing mother. We kept our eyes on Paul and made sure that he didn't get lost and that he behaved himself for the duration of the trip. We never lost him and all-in-all he behaved himself :-P, just joking, he was a good boy! We know that he was missing you and wishing that you were along for the rest of the trip.

Garcia caverns were fantastic, even Jeannie managed to walk the whole path around, which was a big feat for her but one she was so happy to do. Maybe some other year, you and Paul can return there so that you can see the caverns.

Hope the rest of your time in the Philippines goes smoothly and that you are able to return to Paul soon. Thank you for being part of the caravan and we look forward to seeing you both again some time in the future.

    1. No, thank goodness it wasn't while camping otherwise I think we would have turned right around and headed back into Mexico!

It certainly feels strange to be on our own again!

  6. That was a great Mexico caravan trip! I think you saved the best for last with those Garcia Caverns. Totally amazing this planet of ours. Looking forward to Australia! Things are looking up here at the car wash where we skipped Spring and went straight from Winter to Summer. Cheers!
