Haven't sat at a bar for a while!

Well, we took a blogging break yesterday. Doesn't happen too often, but when there's not much to write about there is no point in posting anything!

We've been spending our time visiting family and friends. On Thursday night, our daughter Lindsey took us for drinks at the pub she works at and we met some of the regulars there.

Haven't sat at a bar for a while!

Sitting in the pub.

Had a fun evening, and then we walked home the 4.6 kms (2.8 miles) home to get some exercise.

Then on Friday my mother took us out for lunch and then we took her out to do some grocery shopping.

Late afternoon I met a friend of mine downtown and we went out for a couple of beers. We are so out of touch now when it comes to prices in Canada. Admittedly, it was a fairly upscale place... but the beers were $7.75 CAD ($6.00 USD) each... and I paid $12.50 CAD ($9.50 USD) for parking! Yikes. Welcome to the big city.

But, we had a good time getting caught up.

This morning we are off to see Sadie's swimming lessons and then back up to Ruth's dad's place.

    1. Yes it is nice! Although we still seem to be so busy running around here, there and everywhere.

  2. We don't often go to a bar either anymore, a nice change though, Welcome to Canada and the high prices. Nice that we can head south in the winter sure helps the budget.

    1. Yep, this is a very, very rare thing for us!

We aren't finding the States any cheaper at the moment! I think if we spent the entire winter there we would end up over our budget, which is one of the many reasons that we continue on further south.

    2. Our budget is not as tight yours and we found we spent $2500 less than in Mexico by staying in the southwest after 3 months in Mexico 2009. Mostly boondocking and shopping the food and alcohol specials.

    3. You can't use your time in Mexico as a good comparison example. You stayed at one of the more expensive places and it is priced in U.S. dollars.

    4. Also, your $CAD bought a lot more goods at much cheaper prices in the U.S. ten years ago. Much more expensive today.

  3. What a beautiful photo of you two! You certainly look relaxed and happy. Yes....at a restaurant here in Edmonton 16 oz. beer costs around $12 and so does a 9 oz glass of wine.......we certainly miss Mexican prices!

    1. Thank you Lynnette! I think we were pretty happy and relaxed in that photo. :-)

Wow, that is crazy! Yep we are so missing Mexico for that and so many other reasons.
