November Expenses

We had a budget of $2,200 CAD for the month and we spent $2,287 CAD ($1,635 USD). So we're pretty happy with that.

No real surprises from an expenses perspective. We started the month in Prizren, Kosovo and ended the month in the tiny mountainous country of Andorra on the border between France and Spain.

And in between, we were in Albania, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, and France! Nine different countries in November.

Here's how it all broke down... (the following figures are in $CAD)...

Fuel: Max was at about 1/3 full when we picked him up November 5th. We filled him up three times, but he was pretty much empty again by the end of the month when we reached Andorra today. Including $25 worth of AdBlue, we spent a total of $490 on fuel.

Toll Roads: We haven't used any toll roads at all with Max since we arrived in Europe, however we did spend $8 on a toll road in Albania at the beginning of the month.

Propane: We filled both tanks in Germany when we left on November 5th. Total cost was $47.

Groceries: Max's fridge was totally empty when we picked him up November 5th, so considering we had to pretty much start from scratch, we did alright. We spent $555 on groceries. We're actually not noticing a huge increase in the price of food here over the past year. Maybe red meat, and eggs are higher.

Meals out: We were quite happy to get back to our normal meals in the motorhome, so we only had one meal out since being back in Max and that was a lunch in Antwerp, otherwise our other meal out was dinner near the airport on our last night in Albania. Spent a total of $53 CAD for the month.

Alcohol: We spent $127 for the month.

Miscellaneous: $161. Our day trip to Geneva was $26 for bus fares and chocolates! Then some laundry and a few little items for the motorhome. And $70 on cellular internet access.

Entertainment: $28 on hot wine drinks in Montreux, Switzerland.

Overnight: A total of $84. Our airport hotel in Albania was $54. Then $15 for an annual subscription for the park4night app. And $15 for a campground in Belgium when we needed to do laundry.

Motorhome: When we picked up Max, we had to pay for some minor repairs, and the annual TUV inspection for the propane gas systems. Total was $250. And, the monthly cost of the insurance and registration which was $235. So a total of $485.

Travel: Our flight from Tirana to Dortmund was $74 each. And a few more days of car rental in Albania from the 1st to the 5th. And the train from Dortmund to the dealership was $23 each. Total of $248 for the month.

And that's it. Isn't it amazing that we can visit nine different countries over a one month period for a total of $2,287 CAD.

And now that we have arrived at the border of Spain, we are going to slow down a little bit. We plan to spend the entire month of December in Spain. Our budget is $1,600 CAD ($1,200 USD).
