Putting on the miles

Or the kilometers, in this case. We're doing about 150 kms (93 miles) per day and that will get us to our destination as planned on Monday August 1st. I know that doesn't sound like a lot to most of you, but we are sticking to the back roads so it's still about two and a half hours of driving each day which is enough for us.

We spent last night beside the wide Elbe River that leads from Hamburg to the Atlantic Ocean.

It started off as a bit of a rainy day, and we had showers on and off for most of the day. Warm enough though, with a high of about 24C (75F).

This town had beautiful flower gardens at the side of the road.

Loads of flowers.

No, we are not in Holland!

Nice old hotel.

Crossing the Eider River.

Some kind of a parade going on in this town.

Men only... not a woman to be seen.

Crossing the Kiel Canal.

Quite a few thatched roof homes in this area.

We found a really nice rest stop to spend the night along the Elbe River.

Sheep!

You can just barely make out the ferry that we will be taking this morning.

A quiet night, and we were joined by two other motorhomes who arrived later in the evening.

And in Canada...

  1. It is nice to maintain a slower travel pace. Still lots of beautiful scenery.

    1. Even though we don't travel a huge distance each day we could still use a day's rest right about now but first we wont to get to our destination and then we can rest. :-)

The scenery has been ok but we are really missing the gorgeous scenery in Norway!
