More travel plans finalized!

We drove into the town of Lyngdal. There's not much to see there, but they do have a really nice culture center with a library, so we sat and used their fast free internet for a while. They also have small private soundproof study rooms, so we used one of them to do a video call with Ruth's cousin Helen and her husband Tony.

We wanted to firm up our plans with them for the end of September and early October.

And sure enough we got things finalized... we fly London (Gatwick) to Tirana, Albania on October 2nd. We've booked a car rental and will spend a week in Berat and a week in either Gjirokaster or Pogradec. Because we'll have a car, we'll do lots of day trips from whatever home base we are at for the week.

Helen and Tony will go back to the UK on October 16th. We haven't yet decided what we're going to do, but we might stay in Albania for another couple of weeks after that. We want to go into Kosovo, and possibly North Macedonia as well, but as I say, we haven't totally decided.

Then in early November we will return to Max.

We went for a short walk around Lyngdal and ended up on the other side of a pedestrian bridge. There were a lot of wild raspberries!

Ruth, picking wild raspberries!

There were so many she wished she had a container of some kind!

We were doing a circular route that crossed another bridge further on, but we came to the bridge to find that there was no longer a bridge!

No more bridge.

So we had to go back the way we came.

Back in Lyngdal, we picked up a couple more groceries. I paid cash this time. When we first arrived in Norway, I took the equivalent of about $100 out of an ATM so that we had some Norwegian currency. But we have paid for almost everything by credit card. So after almost seven weeks, I've still got some cash left to get rid of. We've only got two days left here and I've still got about $20 left of that original $100. I'm sure we'll find something to spend it on.

It looks like our last two days in Norway are going to be wet. Rain is supposed to begin mid morning, and it's supposed to rain right through until Tuesday morning. Maybe tomorrow we'll see if we can find a movie theater that's playing the new Top Gun.

  1. Wild raspberries are delicious, glad you found some. Yesterday we collected chanterelles and blueberries. All the best for your trip to Canada. Cheers

    1. They certainly are! I wasn't expecting to be walking on a rural back lane when we set out to walk through the town so I had no container with me. It wouldn't have taken long to fill one if I had brought one along. At our "camping" spot the other night, the German gentleman picked some blueberries and the young girls from the Belgium family helped him, I gave him some sugar and he made some jam to share with us all. We hope that you managed to gather enough of both and that the bugs weren't too bad when you were out picking.

It is going to be interesting with all the plane rides that we will be doing. We will be taking 8 different flights between Aug. 5th and Sept. 11th! Our fingers are crossed that we won't have any major problems.
