They don't make it easy!

So I tried to install the web famous Facebook "like" button here yesterday. Turns out it's not a simple matter. I managed to get it installed so that it showed up at the end of every post, but I don't want people to be able to like the post, I want people to be able to like Travel with Kevin and Ruth, if they so choose.

So I removed it and will work on the other sometime today. I will figure it out! In the meantime, you can "like" us here if you wish...

You'll also notice a link at the top that lists some of my favorite "frugal travel" websites. I'll be adding more to those as time goes by.

On other things, I notice that gasoline in our hometown of Ottawa, Canada has reached $1.369 per litre today. That's $5.12 a gallon in U.S. $ terms! No wonder we are leaving the motorhome in Mexico. Cheaper to travel by plane if you can get the right deal, and we did. Our flights to Chicago are only costing $162.54 each, and we have enough airmiles to get us to Ottawa from there, at a cost of about $78 each for the taxes. So about $240 each one way from Guadalajara to Ottawa. It would cost about $1,000 just in gasoline alone to drive the motorhome to Ottawa.

Another blue sky day here in the hills of Jalisco. Simply beautiful weather!

  3. Kevin why not leave this blog alone. NO one is complaining we like it. It is nice to read each day. There are a lot of people who do not have or like facebook anymore. Keep up the nice reading. Mary-Lou & Dale (KOA Kingston)

    1. Mary-Lou, we aren't really changing it, we are just giving more people an option of joining if they want from facebook. They can still follow us through blogger if the click on the follow button along the strip at the top of this blog. The blog will still be about our travels whether we stay with blogger or go to wordpress or some other format.

  4. Even if I can't click like on your blog, I still like it. They keep saying on the news that our fuel prices are going to keep going up also. Definitely puts a crimp in travel plans, but I hate flying - really hate it. But for you guys, that would be the only way to go.

  6. Um, fuel prices? You guys in North America have no idea. Gas is up there around €1,50 a litre and diesel is about 20 cents cheaper. Mind you, I remember coming here back in the late 70s and never ever saying "fill it up"! No no, you asked for so and so many litres, otherwise you'd have a coronary.
Sucks all around though. That's for sure.

  7. Love the way you work out all the plans. I'm a "sick of facebook" type so I just have you listed on my blog and everytime you post, there it is and I can see what you are up to. Hoping you switch to wordpress so I can too. LOL
