There's a festival going on this weekend!

When we were walking through the central plaza here in Berat the other day, there was a lot of activity going on.

It turns out that the Berat Friendship Festival takes place this weekend!

Every evening from 7pm to midnight there is music, dancing, and beer!

So, we will be wandering down in the evening to see what's going on.

The domed building is a big fancy hotel here in Berat.

That park space you see is all brand new. The last time we were here it was just an empty lot with graffiti and trash. Now they've planted trees and installed a tennis court and a small football (soccer) pitch. It's too hot during the day, so you don't see any people around. But it would be busy in the evening.

Everybody stays inside during the heat of the afternoon.

But the city is bustling in the evening.

The Gorica Bridge is pretty when it is lit up at night.

Today, we are up early again to try to find another place to go for a hike. This time it's a national forest area, but google maps says it's an hour's drive to go 30 kms (18 miles) so maybe the road isn't in very good shape!
