The lowest month we've had since September 2017!

Finally, we had a reasonable month with no unexpected expenses! Let the bells ring out, and the banners fly!

Considering we started the month in Red Lodge, Montana and drove all the way to Galetta, we didn't incur many expenses along the way... except for fuel, of course.

We spent a total of $1,439 CAD ($1,071 USD) for the month. The lowest month we've had since September 2017!

Here's how it all broke down... (the following figures are all Canadian dollars. Subtract about 25% for $USD equivalent.)

Gasoline: We spent $607 on fuel. Considering we drove about 2,000 miles (3,200 kms) that's not bad. The cheapest we paid for gas was $1.85 USD per gallon, and the most was $2.26 USD per gallon.

July's drive!

Tolls: It cost us $8.70 to cross the bridge into Canada.

Propane: We topped up Sherman's propane tank for $46.

Groceries: Considering we had to stock up for our 2 weeks of quarantine, Ruth did really well keeping our grocery bill low. Total food expenses for July were $551.

Alcohol: Zero! Other than using up what we had in stock, we are not spending any money on booze for a while.

Miscellaneous: Not bad, at a total of $127. Most of that was our Telcel cellular bill at $60, then there was $42 for motorhome insurance, and a couple of trips to the laundromat.

Entertainment: We treated ourselves to ice cream one day... $4.30!

Overnight: We spent $13.50 on one night of camping. The rest of the month was all free camping.

Motorhome: $81 on an oil change and tire rotation for Sherman.

So, a total of $1,439 CAD ($1,071 USD) for a month of traveling across the continent. That's not bad!

August and September should be cheap as well. The most expensive budget item will be a car rental for those two months.

And in Canada...

    1. January, February, and March were all in Mexico and they averaged out to $1,710 CAD per month. We do a lot of drinking and eating out in Mexico!

  2. Are you still looking for a car rental. Try Ruckify. It's a cool company out of Ottawa that rents just about anything including RVs and cars.

    1. No, they don't do cars. Or motorhomes, although you can rent a travel or tent trailer.

  3. Any nibbles on Sherman yet? Why not put a link on your blog, so we could go look -- and hopefully refer people...

    1. Yes, there have been a few responses, but nobody very serious. I haven't been trying very hard because it's difficult to try and deal with people when really they can't come and see it anyhow I'm until we're done with quarantine.
