An evening in Oaxaca City

We spent the morning and into the afternoon getting Igor all cleaned up and ready to be stored. At least he'll be clean when we return in October. Other than a layer of dust I expect!

Then we drove over to the storage place. This is the old Oaxaca Campground that we stayed at several times in the past.

The owners Kate and Del closed it up during Covid, and found that they had a new business opportunity doing vehicle storage. Mostly for the many European RV'ers who end up using Oaxaca City as a base to fly back and forth from.

This is where Igor will sit for the next six months or so.

Igor's brother is here too! Another Airstream B190, but this one is newer and has been turned into a 4x4.

Most normal people would take a taxi from the storage place into the city. But we're not normal, and we took the local bus! Along with our full backpacks and a duffle bag we had bought the other day. Then we walked to the hotel.

This is the place.

Not bad, for 580 pesos ($45 CAD, $33 USD).

It's only about 1.5 kms from the central plaza.

No air conditioning though, and it was too hot even with the fans they supply.

We walked downtown.

Pretty street decorations.

The Oaxaca Theater.

The Oaxaca Cathedral.

Balloons anyone?

Happy hour in the plaza.

With music.

Ussie.

There is a wedding going on inside.

Ruth, making friends with a street dog.

The wedding celebration is about to begin.

I took a video for you. These people go all out, I can't imagine what it must have cost. Even fireworks!

Afterwards we went to a popular taco stand in the park.

Tacos in the park!

We're off to the bus station. Our bus leaves at 8:00am and arrives in Mexico City at 3:00pm. Then a subway ride, and another two hour bus ride to Valle de Bravo. Home this evening!
