Last minute surprise visit!

Long time readers will remember that we have spent quite a lot of time over the years with Ruth's cousin Helen and her husband Tony. Even back in our working lives, we sometimes took vacations together, including one way back in 1987 when we went to Scotland!

Helen and Tony live in southwest England, but they recently bought Vinnie the motorhome and decided to do a trip up to Scotland with Vinnie. We had planned to meet up with them, but not this soon!

Yesterday morning, it occurred to us that their route would be bringing them very close to Glasgow. In fact, when we sent them a note asking about it, they were only 30 miles (50 kms) away! So we made a last minute decision to go to Port Glasgow to meet them for lunch.

We caught up on things for an hour, then found a restaurant a short walk away where they had a Sunday Carvery roast lunch offered for £13.95 ($25.90 CAD, $18.95 USD).

It was a good meal!

The restaurant was dog friendly, and there were several other tables with dogs.

We said goodbyes, but we will be seeing them again in a week and a half or two towards the end of our house sit in Aberdeen.

Back at the house, I had a nap and then we went for a walk in the park that surrounds the house where we're staying. One of the neighbors (also named Kevin, and also from Canada!) is the building's unofficial historian and he took us around to see some of the sights.

Not sure what's on the agenda for today! We do need to get out for a walk, so maybe we'll just wander the neighborhood today, and head into the center of Glasgow tomorrow.
