House sitting near Aberdeen for the next 11 days

Yesterday we drove from Glasgow to Aberdeen with a short detour along the way to stop at a waterfall.

And, we met out host family and their dog Loki who we will be looking after for the next 11 days.

The waterfall we stopped at was called Loup of Fintry. No idea where the name came from or what it means!

Loup of Fintry Waterfall.

The trail actually leads to only the upper waterfall, and it's difficult to see the lower one.

So green and lush.

And yes, we did get some raindrops.

Me, enjoying the view.

Worth the detour... it was a pretty area!

Next stop was in the town of Perth, but we were only there for one reason. Although, it is a nice looking town and we probably could have spent more time. Anyhow, my great aunt used to live in Perth many years ago and my mother wanted a photo of how her old house looks now. So we grabbed a shot and it started pouring with rain and we got a little wet as we ran back to the car!

Made it to our house sit along the River Dee, about 5 miles (8 kms) west of the center of Aberdeen.

Our host couple are both originally from Turkiye, but lived in Germany most of their lives before settling here in Scotland 7 years ago. Their oldest daughter is out of the house and living in Germany, but we met the younger daughter who has just finished university, and their son who is in high school.

And of course we met Loki the dog! Loki is a 7 year old male chocolate lab. He's a pretty laid back dog and he will be easy for us to look after.

Loki the dog.

We were taken to a wooded area where Loki likes to have a run and we went for a walk for an hour or so.

The forest is very dark in this area!

Loki and Kevin out for a walk.

Back at the house, we went over our responsibilities looking after the chickens and quails.

Quail. Yes, we also get quail eggs!

There are also about a dozen baby quails.

Chickens.

These chickens like to brood.

And these ones are roosting for the night.

The chicken coop!

The quail run.

Lots to see and do within a one hour drive, so we'll have no problem keeping busy!

    1. It is very green here, mostly because they get a fair bit of rain!
