It's especially important when you do work online. So I always make sure that we have a secondary source, such as a good cellular data connection.
We carry a Keepgo Mifi Device for emergencies that allows us to get online in over 130 different countries. The data is fairly expensive, but as I said it's for emergencies. It's also been very handy for getting online as soon as we arrive in a different country before we are able to get a local SIM card.
But when we're traveling in the motorhome, as we will be a week from today (yeehaw!!), the only way to stay in touch with you all is with cellular data.
I came across a fantastic deal that I wanted to share with you all.
It's through a Spanish cellular company called Tiekom.
Geared towards travelers in Europe, you get 300 GB of data (yes, 300!) per month which is essentially unlimited. I don't think we could use that much if we tried! Even during heavy usage, we might use 3 GB per day, so this is a lot of data for us!
The cost is €39.90 ($54 CAD, $40 USD) per month, taxes included.
And once activated, it works seamlessly in the following countries... Germany, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, French Caribbean, Cyprus, Croatia, Denmark, Slovakia, Slovenia, Estonia, USA, Finland, France, Gibraltar, Greece, Holland, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, La Reunion, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Norway, Poland, Portugal, United Kingdom of Great Britain, Czech Republic, Romania, San Marino, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Azores, Guadeloupe and Saint Martin (French Caribbean), Guam, Guernsey, French Guiana (French Caribbean), Isle of Man, Mayotte Island, Aland Islands, Jersey, Kosovo, Madeira, Martinique (French Caribbean), US Virgin Islands, Vatican.

She sent me a SIM card which is now waiting for us at the dealer where Max is in Germany. She said to contact her when we arrive and she will activate it. Then I can access the customer area of the website, and pay the bill for the first month.
So, hopefully that works as she said it would, but I am confident because I have read other online reviews that are positive.
Yesterday was a quiet day for us, although we did get out for a long walk in the city.

ReplyDeleteIt really is, the big test will be to see if it works like they say they will. Mexico's cellular data plans have got a little more expensive than what they used to be but they are still way cheaper than Canada.
DeleteThat's a really good deal on data. Just for a comparison, we pay $75/mo for 150 Gb of data with our 5G T-Mobile data plan. They have an unlimited plan for $50, but our address doesn't qualify yet, due to the number of subscribers off the cell towers in this area. We are rural so don't have a lot of options. In Mexico we also had a cellular modem and got 100 Gb per month for ?? (can't recall), but since that also provided our streaming TV (our only TV option where we were living at the time), we did have to buy an extra 25 Gb of data occasionally.
ReplyDeleteIt really is a great deal, let's just hope it works the way it is suppose too, I guess we will find out soon. That is still not a bad price compared to Canadian plans and prices. Too bad you aren't able to get the unlimited plan.
