Beach time and birdwatching

Nothing planned with the group yesterday. Good thing though, because after the long drive on Wednesday everybody needed some relax time. Four of us did go into the town of La Crucecita to the big Chedraui grocery store there to do some stocking up.

At 9:30am though, Ruth and I went for a walk on the beach before it got too hot. Here on the southern Pacific coast of Mexico, the temperature is a very consistent 30C (86F) every day.

Just as we were leaving the campground, I spotted this pretty bird...

There is a lot of bird life here at Playa Tangolunda, this is a White-fronted Amazon!

From the campground to the beach is only a five minute walk.

The very rustic campground shares the beach with three all inclusive resorts.

The end of the bay near the Dreams resort is the best for swimming.

A great kiskadee.

Tangolunda Bay.

Crabs on the rocks.

This one looks a little mean!

See the blue dot?
That's where we are right now!

Club Playa Tangolunda is the campground where we are staying. It's been here for many years. The first time we came here was in February 2009

The entire Huatulco resort area was purposely developed by Fonatur, the Mexican government's tourism development organization. Construction started around 1986. When they developed Tangolunda Bay, they allowed three all inclusive resorts, and a golf course. Because Mexico's beaches are (for the most part) public property, they also left this area at Club Playa Tangolunda as a public access area.

It's pretty rustic. There are no hookups, but there is a dump station and water available. There are also flush toilets and cold water showers include in the camping price.

Not bad, for 100 pesos ($5.20 USD, $7.30 CAD) per night.

We took some time to relax in the afternoon.

Brian made margaritas for everyone at happy hour!

Cheers!

Today, we are taking whoever wants to go to Playa la Entrega. It's a calm bay on the other side of La Crucecita where it's good for snorkeling.

  4. Those crabs do look a little meaner than our Delaware crabs! The beach by the bay looks nice and relaxing.

    1. I guess we will have to take your word for it, seeing we haven't seen what Delaware crabs look like! :-)
