Big news!

We love traveling, but one of the drawbacks is the lack of time with family. Sure, skype and internet access have made this a lot easier than it would be without those electronic marvels, but it's still not the same as being there in person.

So when your daughter tells you that you are going to be grandparents again, and you want to give her a big hug...it's not so easy.

Yes, Cameron is going to be a big brother!

Lindsey, Cameron, Justin.

So that's exciting! She's not due until early September, so it probably won't affect our summer plans at all. Besides, if we're working, we won't be able to get time off at that point anyhow. But we were hoping to head there early October anyhow, so perhaps Ruth will be able fly out sooner. I guess we'll see how it all plays out.

In the meantime, life goes on here in paradise. We drove over to "La Barra" to see Mary and family. She had gone to visit a friend so we walked around the village a bit. It's not a big place, so eventually we came across her with Nataly and Gael.

You can't walk anywhere fast in the little village, because you have to stop and talk to people. Everyone says hello, and it's pretty easy for us now to get into a conversation with the locals.

Alfredo's mother Sylvia, with his son Gael.

Ruth has a new friend.

Then we went and sat at Mary's place while we waited for Alfredo to arrive home from work for lunch. We were having fun with Nataly...four years old is a fun age, but holy cow she has a lot of energy! Here's a cute video of me trying to teach her to count to ten in English...

Too funny. She's such a sweetheart.

Jump for Mexico!

After lunch, we dropped Alfredo at his work and Mary came with us to the airport. We still don't have our tourist visas replaced from when they were stolen in November. I had done the application online, and we were under the impression that we would receive an email when they were approved. But that was a month ago and we haven't heard anything. It was supposed to take ten days. So we went to the immigration office to see what could be done...we need them in order to exit the country next week into Guatemala. But the office is only open 9am to 1pm so we have to go back again this morning.

Last night they did a fish fry here at the Sunset Point Resort Hotel. I was going to tell you more about this place this morning, but it looks like I'll do a special post on it later on today.

There's a reason it's called the "Sunset Point"!

    1. Thank you! Yep, they are the best, you can love them and spoil them and then hand them back when they get wild.

  3. Great news. Love the parrot, it looks very similar to the one we rescued in Acapulco years ago. Are the wings clipped? Can never get enough of your sunset shots. Gracias.

    1. Thank you Contessa! Yes, I believe these ones have their wings clipped. The people in the village that have these ones, have five like the one in the picture and a proper parrot that is quite big.
