We hopped on the ATV and drove to the other side of the lake

Instead of our daily 5 km (3 mile) power walk, we decided to drive over to to the community of Avandaro and go for a hike to the Velo de Novia waterfall.

We've been there before, but not for many years, and never during rainy season.

Probably not a great choice to go there on a Saturday, but we got there before most of the crowds so it wasn't too bad.

Some people arrive by boat and park here to get on the trail.

This is not the Velo de Novia falls.

It's only where the river empties into the lake.

Somebody sets up a floating bar on weekends where boaters can stop in for refreshments.

Then we stopped in at the town of Avandaro. The word "town" is not very accurate though. It's hard to describe Avandaro. It isn't really a town, it's more of an upscale residential community. Lots of gated and walled properties, a golf course, and a main street that has expensive shops. Including a large Fresko (La Comer) grocery store where we popped in just to see if they had gluten free bread. And they did, but for 115 pesos ($9.30 CAD, $6.60 USD) for a half a loaf, we weren't interested. We did get some gluten free pasta though at a reasonable price.

Today is market day, so we're headed into Valle de Bravo for our weekly supply of fruits and veggies.
