That was a long 20 hours...

A couple of weeks ago on our daily walk, we were passing a guy out washing his truck, and we said good morning. He stopped us, and said in English "where are you guys from?". So we ended up talking to him for a few minutes. It turns out he spent 25 years in the state of Georgia, but recently returned here to Mexico to "retire".

Instead, he ended up opening a taco shop to keep busy! So before we left for the airport, we took our friend Chago out for lunch.

Chago, Ruth, Kevin, and Azucena (she works for Chago).

Our new friend Orlando, making us some tacos!

Chago dropped us off at the bus stop in El Arco and we caught the 2:20pm bus into Mexico City. Arrived at Poniente bus terminal two hours later, and took the metro subway line to the airport.

The Mexico City airport terminals just went through major renovations in time for the World Cup, and they are now complete. Much nicer than before, however prices are stupid expensive. I mean, we never buy anything in airports anyhow, but we always look at prices just for fun, and this is expensive even by expensive standards!

59 pesos ($4.80 CAD, $3.50 USD) for a half liter bottle of water. 110 pesos ($8.95 CAD, $6.50 USD) for a single, although large, chocolate chip cookie. A single bottle of Corona 120 pesos ($9.75 CAD, $7 USD). Meals are between 400 to 500 pesos ($32 to $40 CAD, $23 to $30 USD). Ridiculous.

Unfortunately there is no lounge benefit for us to use through our credit card at Mexico City airport, which in itself is ridiculous. So we brought our own food, and our LifeStraw so we could filter water out of the tap.

Mexico City airport.

Our Aeromexico flight departed a half an hour late, yet we arrived in Toronto a half an hour early!

We flew by Houston, Texas.

And arrived in Toronto at sunrise.

We were really fast getting through Canadian immigration, so we had a long wait for our 9:30am bus to Gravenhurst. First, we had to do a twenty minute local bus ride to the 407 terminal, then a two hour bus ride to Gravenhurst. The bus was a bit delayed to begin with, then there was some road construction slow downs.

We finally met up with our son Alex just after 12:30pm. Taking into consideration the two hour time change, that was a long 20 hours!

While we were on the bus, our daughter Lindsey and her family were driving from Ottawa, and they arrived only a few minutes before we did. Great to see everyone again!

Alex and his girlfriend CJ have a nice house on a lake 15 minutes outside of Gravenhurst.

The deck.

The hot tub!

The rock room! The house is built onto the side of a hill, and this rock is part of the wall!

The dock.

Beautiful day in the Muskoka region!

It didn't take everyone long to get into the water!

Granddaughter Sadie, seeing who will fall of first!

Lots of fun... but we were exhausted. I fell asleep on the couch in the evening, and when we did finally get to bed we both slept right through the night. That doesn't happen very often! Ruth's sister and family are coming up today, so it will be a busy day here!
