We have never been to a "mushroom festival" before, so we weren't sure what to expect!

Many of the local women dress that way all the time... it's not just for special occasions. While the men are more into jeans and t-shirts!
They had a big area of food vendors, but this time it was mostly geared towards mushrooms!

They had a display of all the different types of wild mushrooms found locally in the forest.
The common Spanish word for mushrooms is "champiñones", but that normally means the typical white button style of mushrooms that you might put on a pizza. The mushrooms at this festival are more the wild type of mushrooms, and they are generally called "hongos".

That was fun! We enjoyed quite a lot of different foods for lunch, and it was nice to meet another couple of new friends who live in the area. Chris is originally from Michigan, and Michelle is originally from Texas. They've been living here in Valle de Bravo for three years now, and actually bought a house here. They are avid sailors, so that's their big attraction to the area.
Sunday is market day, so we're off to get our fruits and veggies for the week!

How cool! I love mushrooms. We've gotten a lot of much-needed rain here in the past couple of weeks, and our forested acreage is full of mushrooms. I'm sure some of them would be good to eat, but I'm not taking any chances since I am no expert. But that festival looks fun and delicious!
