Amazing hoodoo rock formations!

Monday morning, we left the guest house and headed back down to the main highway where we had a stop to make. On the way up, we had seen some very cool looking rock formations across the river, but there were no signs and we could only see a track on the opposite side to get there.

Using Google satellite view, I found out what track would lead us there, and we set off in that direction. It was about 3 kms of narrow single lane, and it anybody came in the opposite direction, one of us would have to back up quite a lot!

When we got close enough, we parked Vladdy and set off on foot. We were at much lower altitude now, and even at 10:00am it was quite warm.

Very cool hoodoo formations!

What's surprising is that nobody seems to know about them.

We had spotted them from the other side of the river, but only because we were having lunch there. If we had just been driving by, we likely wouldn't have seen them.

I wonder how long before that one falls off!

Look up!

The village across the river is quite pretty too.

This guy has one in his backyard!

I went up to have a closer look. You can see how big this structure is!

We love exploring stuff like this!

View looking back up the valley.

There's a small cave over there.

This would be some kind of protected natural area in many other countries.

How is that nobody comes here??

Taken from inside the small cave.

I know... too many photos. Oh well! We had a great time exploring the hoodoos, and can't believe the general tourist crowd doesn't seem to be aware of them. Maybe better to keep it that way.

We hopped back in Vladdy and continued on to our next spot.

Goat in a tree.

Scenery along the way.

So pretty.

We followed the main highway along the Naryn River Reservoir.

It was definitely the hottest day we've had so far. Not exactly sure what the temperature was exactly, but I had seen that in Bishkek it got up to 36C (97F). It was definitely cooler than that where we were, but still warm.

We found a nice spot near the river in the shade.

Not a bad spot, but there were these house fly looking things that bite!
First experience we've had with biting insects so far on this trip.
