One section of the road had some magnificent views

As our regular readers know, we're not big beach people. But, we do enjoy a week, or two at the most. So yesterday we made our way down the twisty, windy highway MEX80 to the dusty beach town of Melaque/San Patricio.

We got going just before 10am, with a plan to arrive just after 12 noon.

Melaque is very popular with Canadians, and we have several friends here.

The road leading out from the military base where we had overnighted.

One section of the road had some magnificent views.

Igor, pulled over to take some photos of the views.

Scenery along the way.

As we pulled into town, our first stop was at a lavanderia to drop off our clothes and bedding for a wash. Then we got parked up at exactly the same place where we were when we were here last January. It's just street parking, but it's shaded by a large building and it's quiet at night.

Friends Doug and Nancy came and met us and we went out for lunch. I think we met them originally back in 2014 at one of the campgrounds here in Mexico, and they have been coming down irregularly since then. Sometimes driving, and sometimes flying. They flew this time, and are staying three months here in Melaque.

Tacos for lunch!
60 pesos ($4.70 CAD, $3.40 USD) for this plate of food.

We wandered around for a bit, went to see the place they are calling home for the next three months, and said hello to some other people. Then Ruth and I headed back to the opposite end of the beach.

Not a very busy day at the beach.

This creature, some type of eel that had washed up on shore.

My, what big teeth you have!

Next stop was to say hi to Brad and Denise. They are from Cabri, SK where the park that we worked at from 2015-2018 is located. Brad was on the board of directors that was overseeing things when we were hired. They also spend about three months here.

We ended up going out for dinner with them.

Brad, Denise, Ruth, and Kevin.
Shorts and t-shirt weather!

So, nice seeing everyone, but we are not hanging around. It turns out that our mine site visit may have been rescheduled to the 19th from the 21st and if that's the case it means we can't linger because we have to get up there two days earlier. Next stop, Rancho B RV Park south of Tecoman.
