But they are on their way!
Most of you know that much of Canada and the U.S. had a lot of snow and bad weather lately. Our daughter Lindsey and her family were supposed to fly out yesterday with an overnight connection in Newark, but their flight out of Halifax was cancelled!
Fortunately, they found out about it before they left for the airport. They were rebooked on another flight leaving this morning, again with a connection in Newark for their onward flight to Mexico City.
On the one hand, this made for better timing and they didn't need the hotel they had booked in Newark. They were able to cancel it without charge. And it's better for us because we didn't have to get up so early this morning to go and meet them. The downside is that we lose half a day in Mexico City with them.
Lindsey, Justin, Cameron, and Sadie.
They are on the plane!
We had a busy day yesterday. I installed the replacement furnace in Igor. It took about three hours. I actually expected it to take longer, so really, everything went pretty smoothly. Ruth gave Igor a really good cleaning while I was doing that, and of course we were getting the house ready for their arrival as well.
And, we've got some excitement going on here as well.
We've had this Mexico State helicopter buzzing around the last two days.
They are doing training exercises for firefighting.
They came down right in front of our dock.
So that's been fun to watch, although they're supposed to finish up today.
Ruth made a delicious roast pork for dinner.
And so we are off to Mexico City (the big tamale!) this morning! We'll take the 11:20am bus, so should get there by 1:20pm. Then the metro (subway, underground) to the central area, and then to our hotel. We've got some time to wander around, since they don't arrive until 9:15pm.
