Views above Kas, Turkiye

When we had been in Kas in the fall of 2020, we had done a hike up the mountain behind the town. It is part of the Lycian Way hiking trail which runs about 500 kms (300 miles) along the southern coast. We wanted to continue further along that trail to see what there was to see, so we headed up the same mountain again yesterday.

The weather has continued to be perfect! Sunshine, blue skies, and temperature about 18C (66F).

It didn't take long to get a view...

Kas, Turkiye.

Uphill, every step of the way!

Almost at the top.

The flag at the top is due for replacement!

Wow, what a view!

Kevin, and the view.

Notice that it's t-shirt weather!

I stood up for this shot... but not without hanging onto that branch.
There was nothing behind me but a steep drop off!

We sat and had a snack and enjoyed the view.

We did continue on the trail inland for a km or two, but it just goes through some grazing fields. Nothing even worth taking a photo of.

Back at Max, we had a late lunch and then drove to our overnight spot. When we were in this area in 2020, we had hiked a coastal section of the Lycian Way trail and came across a fantastic wild camping spot that is mostly used by hikers on the trail. But there was a steep road leading down to it that I thought Max could handle, so we headed over there.

Heading downhill.

Yep, this will do!

It's a beautiful spot, but we will only stay one night. Unfortunately there is some construction going on above the hill and they're using some loud machinery that appears to go non stop during the day. Too bad, because we would have stayed two nights. Oh well.

So a car drives up and three people get out and enjoy the view for a while. They go back to their car and return to Max with each of them carrying some veggies for us! The older guy spoke a bit of English, and said he was a local farmer and wanted to give us some produce.

Apples, tomatoes and peppers.
How nice is that?!

Slept great, and the sun is shining again. We're going to do a coastal hike before we leave. No idea where we will be tonight, but we've only got three days until we need to be in Antalya so we need to get a move on.

  1. Hmmm I'm surprised there is no castle ruins on top of that mountain/hill with great views.

    1. Nope no castle and no ruins, maybe that mountain was just too high up for them to want to build on!
