Almost finished!

Wow, what a busy four days we had! You'll notice that we took a rare blog post holiday on one of them. So now we've got some catching up to do with you and we have a few things to talk about.

Number one is our almost finished playground that is open for business!

We were really impressed with the number of volunteers who donated time, equipment, and materials to get this thing installed and operational.

Our new playground!

I noticed last night that kids were playing on it until after 10:00pm. Can't wait to see what a zoo it is this weekend when it's busy!

When we did the concrete pouring for the playground on Monday, we knew we were going to have left over. Our workshop still had a gravel floor in one section, so we quickly decided to cover at least half of it. Considering it was a last minute thing, we did a pretty good job!

Getting the floor ready for concrete.

What else. Oh yes.

Garbage.

I remember last year how amazed we were at the amount of trash campers produce. We're really noticing it right now because our main trash bins are overflowing! Our waste service provider screwed up on our pickup dates and never showed up last week! Anyhow, what we notice this year is the number of people who throw away their refundable drink containers. We think it's unreal. Each container is worth between 10 and 20 cents and they simply throw them into their garbage. Of course it's not everybody, but it's a noticeable few. I guess you can tell when people have too much money when they literally throw it in the garbage!

You might notice a new link in bright red near the top of the right hand column. It says Shop at Amazon.com!

That's because we have joined the Amazon Associates Program.

Anyhow, we're going to try it out for a couple of months and see how it works. Occasionally, we'll also do separate product posts if we see a great deal on something we think you might be interested in. You know we won't post it unless it's worthwhile, so it should be beneficial to you as well!

    1. Not this year George. All the money from the recyclables goes to the campground and they put that towards any improvements to the children's playground.

    1. It looks so much better in the shop now. Maybe some day they will be able to finish the rest of it. I am pretty sure that we will be back next year, we are really liking it here.

  6. Does the Amazon deal also work for you at Amazon .ca? A few times when I've tried shopping at amazon.com I got redirected to .ca. If it helps you out then I'll go to their site via your blog.

    1. Unfortunately Kevin doesn't think so. He could put in a link to Amazon.ca but then he thinks it will be too confusing and seeing that we have more American readers than Canadian, is the reason he put in the Amazon.com link.
