We're number one!

Well, you all knew that anyhow didn't you?! But more specifically, we're now in number one spot in the Australia contest. We can't believe how many of our readers have become involved with our entry.

Although technically it doesn't matter because it only matters that we are in top spot in our category. But maybe the judges will look at the fact that we garnered top spot when they decide which of the nine category winners will get the prize. Who knows?

It's interesting to note that the entry we passed for top spot has had zero new votes the last couple of days. But he's pretty far ahead in his category so whatever he did to get those votes he has obviously given up on. Strange.

And so with only two weeks to go in the contest, we are at 7,379 votes. It would be neat if we could hit 10,000 by June 7, but that would require getting 187 votes per day average and lately we've been stuck at around 125 per day.

Simple to vote, only hit the green "vote" button, once per day for the next 14 days!

On to other things.

We've been pretty good at keeping up with our daily walks. Besides going out in the morning with her Dad, Ruth comes with me later in the day for a 5km (3 mile) fast paced walk. It's out in the country, so we usually see some wildlife.

Oh deer!

We're going to be showing you some of Ottawa in the next few days. Our son is running in the Ottawa Marathon (his first full marathon) on Sunday morning so we're going to go into the city and watch him cross the finish line. And we'll head downtown and get some pictures for you. Downtown Ottawa is very photogenic at this time of year. Also, we've been invited to a private tour of "The Diefenbunker" early next week. We'll be profiling a behind the scenes look at Canada's cold war bunker where the Prime Minister and top government officials would have been able to run the country in the event of a nuclear attack on the capital.

  2. Congrats on being overall #1! The header photo of the deer in the field today is great - we enjoy walking and seeing wildlife, too - except when it's a bear - then NOT so much!
