Yep, this will do for a couple of nights!

We got up at 7:00am and hit the road right away Friday morning. Two reasons for this... first, it's a good way to warm up Max's interior without using propane, and second, we wanted to get out of the big city of Alanya before the traffic got heavy.

And we did... there was hardly any traffic on the road.

The main road followed the coast for quite a while, but when it turned inland, we decided to keep going on a secondary road that still continued along the coast.

Heading through Alanya at sunrise.

Looking back at Alanya Fortress, you can clearly see the fortress walls.

Scenery along the way.

We arrived at a free waterfront campground specifically designed for RV's by the municipality of Gazipasa. Yes, free!

In the U.S., you would probably pay $75 a night for this!

There are only ten sites, but lots of room for other rigs as well.

When we arrived, there were only two other units... one travel trailer, and another motorhome.

Yep, this will do for a couple of nights!

View out the front window.

There's not much of a swimming beach here, but of course it's too cold for that anyhow.

It's nice to watch the little waterfalls caused by the rock shelves.

We went for a stroll down the beach.

And ended up climbing a hill for the view.

Can you see Max?

Nice covered picnic tables.

We walked back to Max, and then further along in the opposite direction.

I noticed that the other motorhome in the parking lot was flying a Ukrainian flag. And when we got closer, we could see that the licence plate was from Ukraine.

Very cool airplane graphics on the side of this rig!

On our way back, the woman was outside, so we went over to speak with her. We asked if she spoke English, and it turned out she did speak a little. We offered our regrets regarding what is happening to her country. She asked where we are from, and we told here Canada. Her eyes lit up, and we learned that their son is going to university in Toronto.

But that was about it. I wish we could have communicated better to learn if they escaped the problems in their motorhome, or if they had come down here originally to escape the winter. Either way, if you have to flee your country, having a motorhome is a great way to be able to do it. I'm sure they won't be heading back anytime soon. How horrible it must be for them.

Looking inland.
The mountains are not very far away!

Ruth, giving some love to some friendly stray dogs.

Around sunset, a wedding party showed up to take photos.

I took a pretty good one myself!

Supposed to be another decent day today, so we are getting the bikes off and going for a ride. Hoping to get to the hill way on the other side where we can climb the 650 or so stairs to get to the top!

  1. You've found another good place to stay. The wedding dress looks familiar and was wondering if she got it from wedding dress street, Isiklar Cd, in Antalya!!

    1. We did indeed find another great place to stay, so much so we are going to stay for a third night. :-)

I wouldn't surprise us a bit if that dress came from the wedding dress street in Antalya, lol!

  2. That photo of the dogs is great, especially the dog with his eye closed as he gets his head scratched.

    1. Those dogs are so sweet. We named that big one Simba because he looks like he has a natural mane and he is so big but so gentle.

  4. Those snow covered mountains must make the area colder. Love the little water falls on the beach.

    1. No, I don't think they do, we had a gorgeous day yesterday. Now if we go up into the mountains then it would definitely be colder.
