March Expenses... that was a cheap month!

How much does it cost to RV in Turkiye for a month? Well using our March expenses as an example, it costs about $950 CAD ($760 USD)!

Yes, that is our total expenses for the month of March. $950 CAD. And that is for everything, including our travel medical insurance.

Speaking of that, our travel medical insurance partner Heymondo has authorized a Spring Break sale through the Travel with Kevin and Ruth website. Any of our readers can save 15% off their travel medical insurance by clicking through this link...

Valid for anybody age 69 or younger. Also, the discount will be applied to all purchases made between March 31st and April 10th, regardless of the dates of your trip. So if you've got something planned even for later on in the year, you can take advantage of the discount now. Works on all options, including single trip and long stay trips.

Here is the breakdown of our expenses for the month...

Medical Insurance: We spent $175 CAD on travel medical insurance for the month of March.

Fuel: We spent $195 CAD on diesel fuel for Max. But, his tank is almost empty and will need a fill up tomorrow.

Propane (LPG): $47 CAD on propane. Hopefully that's the last of our heavy propane usage as spring has now arrived.

Groceries: $270 CAD on groceries.

Meals out: $46 CAD on meals out.

Alcohol: Only $78 CAD. That actually doesn't buy much booze in Turkiye and we have been mostly limiting ourselves to a few drinks on the weekends.

Miscellaneous: Just $41 CAD and that includes foreign exchange fees for cash, laundry, parking, and cellular data access.

Entertainment: Hiking and bike riding is generally free, and we did a fair bit of that. We also spent $29 CAD on various museum and attractions passes.

Overnight: We spent $68 on 11 nights of camping fees. Otherwise, we free camped.

So, $950 CAD for the month. That's pretty cheap. Next  month will be higher because we have quite a lot of driving to do, and fuel has of course gone up in price. But we still have a budget planned of only $1,350 CAD, so it's still not a lot of money.

Of course we are saving now, but our spending will be above average in Norway in June and July, and Canada in August and part of September.

  1. Thanks so much for the updated Heymondo travel insurance link! Was about to use your 5% link to lock in our insurance for 1 year once we leave the USA in late July, but 15% is much better!
