Filet Mignon for dinner!

Yesterday before lunch, Ruth and I took the collectivo taxi into Valle de Bravo. We had a few errands to run, including booking some of the group for another paragliding flight like the one we did on January 1st last year.

First stop was the bank to pick up some more pesos, then right beside the bank was a really busy street taco stand where we each had two tacos for lunch.

From there, we walked down to the waterfront where the paragliding sales people are. We went to the same office we did last year. They were professional and we enjoyed the ride, so we were happy to give them our business again. The price has gone up a little... last year it was 1,500 pesos per person, this year it is 1,650 ($115 CAD, $88 USD) per person.

The streets of Valle de Bravo.

Always lots of traffic in el centro.

Next stop was the butcher. A few years ago, we bought a chunk of beef tenderloin here and it was delicious. Last year, we did the same thing and got the same result! So we returned to Carniceria Velazquez to see our butcher Daniel for a repeat performance.

Daniel recognized us from our previous visits! Once again, we bought a 1.5 kg (3.3 lb) chunk of tenderloin. We also got 1 kg (2.2 lb) of fresh ground beef, and a big piece of dried chorizo. Total cost was 400 pesos ($28 CAD, $21.50 USD).

Daniel the butcher!

Great butcher shop... highly recommend at Av. Toluca #415 at the corner of Mairam in Valle de Bravo.

Dinner... delicious, thanks Daniel!

Might have to bring some more of the gang in to see Daniel today!

We are on our way in to do some more paragliding this afternoon... we take to the skies at 1:00pm!

    1. We had a great time paragliding!

The prices and the service here are so good here, one of the reasons that we keep coming back to Daniel. :-)

  2. We enjoyed the butcher shops in San Miguell de Allende as well. My check was to step into the store and discretely take a deep whiff. I could not detect any bad smells. Good quality meats at reasonable prices. Much better than the supermarkets. Enjoy your flights!

    1. Yep, we love going to the small local butcher shops rather than the big supermarkets. The meat is always fresher and we find the prices are better, plus we would rather give the business to the Mom and Pop shops than to the big corporate stores.
