Off to the beach

We've got some summer weather on the go here in Nova Scotia this weekend. Highs of around 28C (82F) with blue skies and sunshine.

So yesterday, we took the grandkids to the beach!

Oh, but let's back up a bit. On Friday, Ruth and I went for a walk on the many trails that are right across the street from where we are staying. You can walk right down to the bank of the Cornwallis River, which is a tidal river that leads out to the Minas Basin which is part of the Bay of Fundy where the highest tides in the world are located.

The river is empty at low tide!

This is where we are staying.
You can zoom in or out using the buttons on the lower right.

The river is just a big mud puddle.

We took another trail that led to an old cemetery.

They had a guest book and an information sheet.

The Horton Poor Farm Cemetery.

Lots of apple orchards here.

Okay, lets go to the beach!

We got there right at low tide.
Cameron is looking for crabs.

Oh! There's one!

At low tide, you have to walk about 1/2 a km to get to the water!

Walking through the mud to get to the water.

What is Cameron looking at?

A big plane flying overhead.
There is a Canadian air force base nearby.

Shoreline at Kingsport Beach.

An old ship anchor was found in the bay.

Cameron (age 11).

Sadie (will be 9 later this month).

We took a short drive up to the Blomidon Lookout.

Looking towards the bay.

Right across the road from the house is a big farm with a maze.

Back at the house.
How am I supposed to get any work done?

Another beautiful day today!

Nice price drop on the single seat Intex Inflatable Kayak. Ruth and I owned the two seater version, and for the price you can't go wrong!

And in Canada...

    1. We are having a very nice visit. It has been great to see the grandkids again and to spend time with them. Annapolis Valley is a really pretty area, it seems to have a little bit of everything here.

Do you think that you will still be out this way before we leave on Sept. 1st?
