I found another great option for travel medical and trip insurance

I've been a big proponent of Heymondo travel insurance for the last couple of years, but that company has recently changed their program so that the plan that we want isn't available to our age group. So I've been shopping around.

They make this stuff so complicated and time consuming to figure out. You have to read through all of the options and then the fine print to know what you're covered for and what you're not. I've spent a lot of time on this, and here's what I found...

There are soooo many choices of companies! It seemed like the more I looked, the more I found. I'm sure that there are still some out there that I haven't come across. And of course everyone has their own priorities as to what is important to them. Accident? Pre-existing conditions? Prescriptions? Trip Cancellation? Visits to your home country?

So much to consider.

And then of course comparing prices to what you're getting.

And understanding exactly what you're covered for. You really have to read the fine print.

In fact, one that I found, and the one we are likely to buy is actually not available for purchase while you are in your home country of either Canada or Australia. So, as a Canadian citizen currently located in my home country of Canada I can't make the purchase until we leave the country. Strange, but true!

Anyhow, here is what I have found to be the best of all the ones I looked at...

Visitors Coverage is actually a broker. They deal with a ton of different companies and what I liked about it is that once you input your details, they give you an easily comparable list of prices and what you're getting. Don't get me wrong... you still need to read the fine print! However if you are as price conscious as we are, you can check the cheapest option first and see if it's suitable to your needs.

You can input your details in the box above to get some quotes.

For example, I can get an inexpensive policy with a $0 deductible, and $50,000 maximum coverage for $75 per person per month. And we are 60 years old. That's pretty cheap. And I have the option to increase the deductible in order to lower the premium even more.

And it gives me 8 different plans to choose from. If I input an age of 75, it still gives me 7 different plans to choose from, and many are not much different in price compared to the 60 year old age group.

And they have plans available for if you specifically want insurance when you visit your home country. Or if you specifically want insurance for U.S. travel. It really seems like a one stop shop if you are an "older" traveler.

They are also very quick at responding to questions. I've sent several, and they've replied the same day.

I belong to several travel forums and insurance is certainly one of the most discussed topics. Hopefully this makes it a little simpler for you!
